Quick Tasks
1. Introduction
A Quick Task turns a completed regular task or Teach Mode conversation into a reusable task template. Once saved, you do not need to describe the entire workflow every time. When starting it, simply confirm the parameters for this run. Agivar then creates a new task conversation and executes it through the standard task workflow.
Quick Tasks are best suited to workflows that are relatively fixed and repeated frequently, but whose parameters may differ each time. Examples include “prepare a daily report using the standard process and send it to a specified person” or “open a system and complete a routine set of operations.”
Starting a Quick Task creates a regular task conversation that supports pause, continue, and stop just like any other task.
2. Create a Quick Task
2.1 Save from the conversation header
First complete a conversation that can be organized into operational steps, then click Save as Quick Task in the conversation header.
Agivar displays a Generating Quick Task loading indicator. You can click Cancel at any time. When generation succeeds, a Save Quick Task confirmation window opens so you can review and edit the organized result.
If the conversation does not contain any operational steps that can be extracted, Agivar displays No operational steps to save and does not open the confirmation window.
If you click Cancel, the loading indicator closes immediately and the save confirmation window does not appear. You can click Save as Quick Task again later to retry.
2.2 Review and save
In the Save Quick Task confirmation window, you can usually review and adjust:
- Name: identifies the task in the Quick Tasks library.
- Summary: briefly explains what the Quick Task is for.
- Task workflow: the generated execution steps. Clear any steps that are not needed.
- Variable options: parameters that may change each time the task runs. Variable names appear on the left and selectable labels on the right. You can select a default option or add one custom label. Variables themselves cannot be added or removed.
After confirming the content, click Save. When saving succeeds:
- The confirmation window closes and the Quick Task appears in the Quick Tasks library in the sidebar.
- The source conversation header changes to ✓ Saved and temporarily prevents another save, avoiding duplicate Quick Tasks.
- If the corresponding Quick Task is later deleted, the source conversation header returns to Save as Quick Task.
If you do not want to save it yet, click Cancel or close the window. Before closing, Agivar asks whether you want to discard the draft. Click Continue editing to return to the confirmation window, or Discard to delete the current draft.
2.3 Create from recent conversations
You can also open the Quick Tasks library in the sidebar, click + Create Quick Task from recent conversation at the bottom, and select a recent conversation.
After you select one, Agivar opens the Quick Task save page. Only conversations that performed actual operations and have not already been saved appear in the list.
2.4 Continue the conversation after saving
To modify a saved Quick Task, continue sending messages in its source conversation, then generate and save the Quick Task again.
3. Manage Quick Tasks
3.1 Open the Quick Tasks library
Click Quick Tasks in the left sidebar of the home page to open the Quick Tasks library.
3.2 Task card reference
Each Quick Task appears as a card. Common information includes:
- Task name: identifies the Quick Task.
- Summary: briefly explains the task's purpose.
- Step / variable count: appears only when the task has corresponding content.
- Risk or sign-in labels: appear only when known notices apply, such as read-only access, local writes, external sending, or sign-in required.
- Local execution summary: the bottom of the card shows local execution information, such as never run, today's successful runs, failed or canceled runs, or the elapsed time of a run in progress.
- Action button: displays Run, Run Again, or View Progress.
- More menu: use the … menu in the upper-right corner of the card to delete the Quick Task.
3.3 Delete a Quick Task
Click … in the upper-right corner of the task card, choose Delete, and confirm in the dialog.
After deletion, the Quick Task no longer appears in the library. If it was created from a conversation, the source conversation header returns to Save as Quick Task, allowing you to save it again.
4. Run a Quick Task
4.1 Confirm startup settings
Click Run or Run Again on the target task in the Quick Tasks library. A startup confirmation card opens.
The startup confirmation card usually contains:
- Task title and summary: confirms which Quick Task is about to run.
- Task workflow: shows the steps that will be executed in read-only form.
- Parameters for this run: choose values from the variable options. You can also add one custom label that applies only to this run.
- Additional notes: optionally enter extra instructions for this run.
- Model: choose Fast or Pro. It defaults to the model currently selected in the input area, but you can change it for this run.
- Execution location: on Windows, choose the local computer or Virtual Desktop. If Virtual Desktop is not enabled, that option is unavailable. macOS does not show this setting and always runs the task locally.
After confirming the settings, click Start. Agivar creates a new task conversation and begins execution.
Only one task can run on the same desktop at a time. If a task is already running on the current desktop, the new task is rejected and Agivar asks you to end the current task before trying again.
While a Quick Task is running, click View Progress on its card. The Run / Run Again buttons on other cards are temporarily disabled.
4.2 View execution progress
After a Quick Task starts, a new execution conversation appears under Conversation History in the sidebar. A lightning icon before the conversation title distinguishes it from regular conversations.
You can also click View Progress on the running card in the Quick Tasks library to open the corresponding execution conversation directly.
During execution, you can view progress, pause, continue, or stop the task just as you would with a regular task.
4.3 Execution conversation indicator
A conversation started from a Quick Task does not show Save as Quick Task in its header. Instead, it displays a Quick Task indicator. Hover over it to see an explanation such as This conversation was started from a Quick Task.
Under the Conversation History filter, you can also show only Quick Tasks or only Regular Conversations, making related conversations easier to find.
5. FAQ
5.1 I clicked “Save as Quick Task,” but no confirmation window appeared
First confirm that the conversation contains operational steps that Agivar can organize. If Agivar displays No operational steps to save, the current conversation is not yet suitable for saving.
If you clicked Cancel during generation, the confirmation window does not appear. Click Save as Quick Task again to retry.
If there is a network problem, Agivar usually displays Save failed. Check your network and try again, and the confirmation window does not open. Restore the network connection and try again.
5.2 The header shows “✓ Saved,” and I cannot save again
This means the conversation has already been saved as a corresponding Quick Task. To save it again:
- continue sending new messages in the conversation, after which the header returns to Save as Quick Task;
- or delete the corresponding task from the Quick Tasks library, which also restores the save action in the header.
5.3 The Quick Tasks library is empty
If you have not created any Quick Tasks yet, the library displays guidance. Complete a conversation and click Save as Quick Task in its header, or use Create Quick Task from recent conversation at the bottom of the library.
If you have already created a Quick Task but the list is empty, check your network connection or reopen the Quick Tasks library later to refresh it.
5.4 Clicking “Run” does nothing, or the task cannot start
Check the following in order:
- Is another Quick Task or desktop task already running? If so, end it before starting this one.
- Have all required parameters in the startup confirmation card been completed?
- Is the network working? A network problem may cause the open or start action to fail.
- If you selected Virtual Desktop, confirm that Virtual Desktop is enabled.
5.5 How is an execution conversation different from a regular conversation?
An execution conversation is still a task conversation where you can view progress, pause, continue, or stop. The main differences are its indicator and origin:
- a lightning icon appears before its title in the sidebar;
- the header displays a Quick Task indicator instead of Save as Quick Task;
- it was started from the Quick Tasks library rather than manually from a blank conversation.
